Red vs Blue Episode 100

Just saw Episode 100.. And now it's over. No more Red vs Blue (or at least no more Red vs Blue: The Blood Gulch Chronicles, as they say.) Episode 100 is supposed to be the last one. It was a really good run, but now I feel somewhat empty. What will the world be like without Red Team and Blue Team? No Church, or Caboose, or Grif, or Simmons, or Sarge, Donut, ... Wow.

Lu Ann and I finished our 2nd official dance lesson at Arthur Murray's Dance studios out in Henrietta yesterday. So far our instructor Emily has walked us through basic steps and spins in rumba, waltz, tango, cha-cha, swing, and has touched on some others mixed around. We're also learning more and more about the intricacies or moving around a crowded dance floor and such. It's alot of fun, and it's opened up a whole new avenue or activities to do together, rather than just the normal night outs to movies and dinner. Emily tells us that Lu Ann and I learn very quickly that that we should do well here. We only get to go once a week (Saturdays) because of my school and Lu Ann's working, but I'm hoping that the situation will rectify itself once school stops this summer.

Emily asked us to think about how long Lu Ann and I want to take lessons. We're not really hoping to be good enough to win competitions or anything. While it would be cool if we could show off now and then, we're really just in it for the fun. Emily explained that by 3 to 4 months we'd essentially know enough to be able to dance to just about any kind of music that we'd normally hear, and that to become the type of dancers that steal the spotlight and have tons of moves to keep things fresh and creative and interesting, usually amounts to 3 to 4 years of time.

I'll probably be out or Rochester by then... I dunno. Probably somewhere in the middle.

Lu Ann's mom made them for us over the course of October. Pictures speak more than words about how the kimonos turned out, but they are extremely comfy and are very nice to cuddle in ^_^ Nathan was kind enough to take pictures of us that day and I was able to wrestle those pictures from him today.

We entered the costume contest at MCC, and we won a DVD player for first prize best costumes (I don't take too much credit, Lu Ann looks way better than me.) Lu Ann is dressed in Tomoe's colors from the Kenshin OAV. If I had more time and funds I would look more like Kenshin, but alas, it was not meant to be this year.

I heard that last year some d00d dressed as a crackhead won the contest, so I am glad that we were able to do the contest justice this year, at least.

An E-Mail to my brother Tim

Hey Tim this is Mike. I just wanted to let you know that my new e-mail addy is now this one (michaelp.ngo@gmail.com) It's better this way.

Today I had orientation at ADT. They only made me stay for the half-day, even though the lady who called the day before to confirm the orientation day told me that I would be staying for the full 8 1/2 hours. So I didn't really get to start working yet. They went over benefits and made us watch videos about work ethics and sexual harrassment. And had us fill out the last of the paperwork.

They gave me an ID card that clips onto your belt which you can pull up to slide across the scanners at the employee entrance doors. Those doors are supposed to be uber-secure, but I got in this morning by following an employee inside. I didn't even know until later that the doors had to be open by way of ID card. The break areas look brand new, and there's refrigerators and coffee and good microwaves and the vending machines that serve food and drinks. The ground floor is pretty much all neat cubicles with desktop computers and a phone and switchboard. They look fairly roomy. The people working looked pretty relaxed and at ease working at their stations. It looks way different from dusty, dirty cash registers and filthy floors tending to never-ending streams of angry customers. At least now I'll be hearing the angry people through a headset.

My first full day starts tomorrow morning. I should get some sleep. Let me know when your copy of Doom 3 comes in. ADT gives me this nice $30 headset to use. It might work with my X-box live stuff :-D

-Mike

Like tuition reimbursement, stock options, AND A 401(K)!

I've just given Tops my two week notice. I'm going in tomorrow to fill out paperwork and take drug tests.
Late night Sunday, I stumbled onto this website, searching for more information about Orson Scott Card's "Ender" series of books.

http://www.ornery.org/essays/warwatch/index.html

This is a weekly column written by Orson Scott Card called World Watch, on The Ornery American website. Orson Scott Card is a hardcore right-wing republican conservative, guy. Woah....

Apparently he's also a "rabid fascist asshat" according to some random guy from some random forum. That's how I got started poking around the internet and stumbled onto this weekly column.

The first article I actually read was his "The Riots of the Faithful" article, circa May 15 2005 (cause I stumbled onto that article first, not the actual directory of articles.) Card rants about the media's response to American interrogators flushing Qurans down the toilet in order to get Muslim prisoners to talk, and the rioting and death all over the Muslim world. I can understand and agree with some of his views, and I can kinda see how those hating Card's columns and views (Or his person in general) could go so far as to label him a fascist asshat. I don't believe he is one though. Besides I like Ender's Game too much ^_^

I've found his writing to be pretty good. Card gets his points across, err, pretty well I think, all of them supported and well founded. He makes himself clear. It's just so different from what I'm used to in Ender's Game, in that he writes like he's an old guy yelling, "Damn kids get off my lawn!" At least in this particular article, Card writes pretty angrily.

It's pretty interesting. I think I'll read more.

Though he should give Star Wars Episode III a break. That's just silly :-P

The following document is a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) guide to committing the perfect crime.

Q: What do you consider to be "The Perfect Crime," exactly?

A: Many people think that the perfect crime involves getting away with murder, but this simply is not the case. The true definition of the perfect crime is a crime so flawless that even on the off chance that you do get caught, there is nothing the police or the victim can do about it!

Q: Then what specifically is "The Perfect Crime?"

A: The perfect crime is shooting your neighbor's dog through a chain-link fence with a tranquilizer dart launched via an ordinary household straw.

Q: How is that "The Perfect Crime?"

A: It's the perfect crime because -- no matter what -- you'll get away with it.

Q: But what's my motive for doing this?

A: Your motives are the following:
To get your neighbor's dog to stop barking.

To get revenge for the childhood injury inflicted upon you by a beagle named "Candy" who bit you above the eye when you simply tried to jump on her back and ride her like a horse. You're just lucky no one can see the scar from that attack, thanks to your bushy eyebrows.

To commit the perfect crime.

Q: What if there are witnesses? Can't the police arrest me for this?

A: Nope. What can they arrest you for? They can't arrest you for animal cruelty because by the time they get there, the tranquilizer will have worn off and the dog will be back to normal. It's going to take awhile for the police to show up anyway since most cops have better things to do than investigate unconscious canine crimes.

Plus, they can't charge you with trespassing since you shot the tranquilizer through the chain-link fence. You never actually stepped onto the other person's property. And they can't get you for weapons possession since you used a harmless straw to deliver the tranquilizer dart's non-lethal payload. Finally, the dog will be unable to testify against you in court because he/she is a dog.

Q: May I perform "The Perfect Crime" on Lassie?

A: Yes you may!

Q: Where do I get the tranquilizer darts?

A: eBay.

Q: Won't the dog's owner notice the tranquilizer dart sticking out of their dog and immediately be suspicious?

A: Not if you use tranquilizer darts that instantly biodegrade on contact... idiot.

Q: What if my neighbor doesn't have a dog?

A: Move.

Q: What do I gain from "The Perfect Crime?"

A: You will gain peace, quiet, and the warm fuzzy feeling that comes with knowing that you just committed the perfect crime! You're a master criminal!

Q: But if the cops do come and they do figure out you tranquilized the dog, then what will they do?

A: They will shake your hand and congratulate you for perfectly executing the perfect crime. They know there's absolutely nothing they can charge you with, so they'll just compliment you on your brilliance and go back to planting drugs on minorities.

Q: After I commit "The Perfect Crime," what should I do with the straw?

A: Blend the following ingredients in your blender: 1 cup pineapple juice, 1 egg (optional), 1 tsp vanilla, 1/4 cup Milk, 1 small Banana (sliced). Sugar to taste, pour into a glass, drink up with the assistance of your loyal straw, and toast your sweet victory. It's the perfect way to celebrate the perfect crime!

Robot
You are 57% Rational, 28% Extroverted, 28% Brutal, and 14% Arrogant.

You are the Robot! You are characterized by your rationality. In fact, this is really ALL you are characterized by. Like a cold, heartless machine, you are so logical and unemotional that you scarcely seem human. For instance, you are very humble and don't bother thinking of your own interests, you are very gentle and lack emotion, and you are also very introverted and introspective. You may have noticed that these traits are just as applicable to your laptop as they are to a human being. In short, your personality defect is that you don't really HAVE a personality. You are one of those annoying, super-logical people that never gets upset or flustered. Unless, of course, you short circuit.

To put it less negatively:

1. You are more RATIONAL than intuitive.

2. You are more INTROVERTED than extroverted.

3. You are more GENTLE than brutal.

4. You are more HUMBLE than arrogant.

Compatibility:

Your exact opposite is the Class Clown.

Other personalities you would probably get along with are the Hand-Raiser, the Emo Kid, and the Haughty Intellectual.

*

*

If you scored near fifty percent for a certain trait (42%-58%), you could very well go either way. For example, someone with 42% Extroversion is slightly leaning towards being an introvert, but is close enough to being an extrovert to be classified that way as well. Below is a list of the other personality types so that you can determine which other possible categories you may fill if you scored near fifty percent for certain traits.

The other personality types:

The Emo Kid: Intuitive, Introverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Starving Artist: Intuitive, Introverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Bitch-Slap: Intuitive, Introverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Brute: Intuitive, Introverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Hippie: Intuitive, Extroverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Televangelist: Intuitive, Extroverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Schoolyard Bully: Intuitive, Extroverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Class Clown: Intuitive, Extroverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Robot: Rational, Introverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Haughty Intellectual: Rational, Introverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Spiteful Loner: Rational, Introverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Sociopath: Rational, Introverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

The Hand-Raiser: Rational, Extroverted, Gentle, Humble.

The Braggart: Rational, Extroverted, Gentle, Arrogant.

The Capitalist Pig: Rational, Extroverted, Brutal, Humble.

The Smartass: Rational, Extroverted, Brutal, Arrogant.

Recovering from a mild cold. I just finished an 8 1/2 hour shift, hanging tags at Tops. It felt weird taking a break every two hours to drain the fluid out of my nose, but such is the way of things for the time being.

I came home to find my car all fixed. All four wheels attached to the frame and everything. (Aparrently it still needs 'bearings', which my dad has told me will be picked up tomorrow. I think i'll inquire on what exactly they are and what they do then) I was dumbfounded for a couple of minutes just staring at her, before I cut the engine of my mom's car and went inside.

even with the nasty dent, The car still looks nice. It'll be nice to drive her again. Not having to wake up at 6 in the morning every day to drive my mom to work so that I could have a car to drive during the day. To be free and be able to go wherever I want, whenever. I couldn't imagine living as a commuting student any other way.

I'll be graduating with my associates degree in Optical Systems Technology..err this month, pending one last exam.

I just recently met with advisors from RIT to go over options as to how and when to take classes. In short, because of changes in RIT's curriculum (in the specific department that I'd be joining), It'll take me four years, to complete a bachelors degree there.

I think the best thing for me to do at this point (after talking it over with my parents and siblings) is to look for a job in my field, while there's still a summer. I'll be enrolling again into MCC, as a non-matriculated student, to take more courses to fulfill the prerequisites I need to take the second year courses at RIT, if I choose to go there in the fall of 2006. I'll take care of all of my general elective courses at MCC and be better prepared for RIT if I still want to go by then. I'd have an edge then.

In the meantime, hopefully I'll have some real world experience as well. four more years of college, added with the four years I've already spent, doesn't sound so bad if I have a decent job to back me up.

Tim's birthday came and went. I think I'm getting alot better about remembering stuff like this, but not alot though ^_^ I got him the Clone Wars volume 1 DVD, seeing as I think we've both been going star wars crazy as of late. The family went to dinner and we watched Episode III afterwards. It was absolutely beautiful. The emotional impact of the fall of the jedi, done perfectly. The dialog has been really improved too, they did a much better job this time. It never comes off as being too corny, like it does in the previous movies.

Lu Ann and I also went to the Lilac festival that day too. I think we needed it, with all of the stuff going on with the both of us. I think we've been going alright for ourselves though... I think I'm happy enough. Happiest I've been in a long time. It's like she just turned on a light inside my head and now I'm free to do anything. all this work that I've been doing this past semester, working at tops, dealing with everyday, has been a relative breeze. And it's all because of her. Life is awesome and everything tastes better, because of her.

I've never actually been to it before so it was all new to me. I never expected it to be so pretty. It felt like being in Watkins Glen all over again, only this time I was with Lu Ann. The gardens were definately the best part of the entire thing. I really need to make it a habit of taking her to nice places like this.

A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of wolves and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down, but it is not this day. This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you *stand, Men of the West!*"

Lu Ann's mom, may I speak candidly?

You raised your daughter, with all the morals and values that you intended to. She is a good and kind person. The best kind of person.

I don't presume to know what kind of plan you have for her, nor do I have any right to judge or question what you are doing.

All I ask, is that you trust your own daughter more than you trust me. I've done nothing to deserve that kind of honor, and she's done everything.

Respectfully,
-Michael P. Ngo

If that happens, I just want to let you know that I'm sorry. Sorry I got you mixed up in all this stupid stuff. I'm sorry I wasn't a better guy than I should have been. I'm sorry for... well for alot of stuff............. But! If we do survive this, then it's totally because of me, and you should build a fuckin' statue in my honor! I'm serious! Something cool!
College applications suck, yo.

"There is nothing wrong with fear. You need never be ashamed of it, as long as it doesn't stop you functioning. Fear is your natural warning system; it keeps you alive so that you can fight. Show me a man who isn't afraid, and I'll show you a fool who is a danger to his entire ship. And I do not tolerate fools in my navy."

I am way behind on my college applications. I've simply been putting them off for way too long.

From the looks of things It appears that I can still hand things in before they are due, but it would have been way better to finish things up in say, January? And there's more to the U of R one than I had originally anticipated. Application itself, a whole lot of info about myself from 4+ years ago that I still don't think is very important, the admissions essay, a recommendation letter from one of my professors, and more stuff that I don't care to think about right now. It almost makes me want to go to RIT more now; The application is alot shorter.

In any case, It'll be the RIT one that I'll be finishing first (because it's shorter and I feel that deadlines are tighter for RIT at this point.) I'll be working on the college essay all week. I'm looking through my livejournal entries to give me some ideas. I think I'll be writing about the rough week I had with both the Calculus exam and the physics exam. And how acing those despite all the difficulties made me see things a little better. I almost wish MCC has made me write more essays; all I have are a ton of lab reports. they won't help me here.

I think I'll be okay. It just feels like I still have alot to do, but in reality I think I have alot of it done already. Just a matter of finishing things and sending them over. 2 to 3 weeks for both of them.
